The First Rainy Seattle Monday

Three posts in one day? What? WHAT? Yep!

The torrential downpour outside (all day long – bye bye summer and fall, hello 10 months of rain) has made me weirdly productive today. Kind of. Unless you count that time during break I spent on my couch watching TV and not really reading. But it’s whatever.

Anyway, it was really really rainy today. Like the whole city was gray from the rain kind of rainy. I forgot what that was like, to look in the distance and not see colors, just shades of gray. It’s weird how rain in Seattle does that. It’s weird that I forgot about the grayness. I guess it hasn’t rained hard enough in a few months (hey, I’m not complaining).

Anyway, this grayness has me in sweats right now, all comfy and warm. It’s almost nostalgic. It’s been a while since I was in sweat pants and a sweat shirt, with my lamp on, at my desk, eating dinner. Standard law school Monday night. It has just been a while.

Also, I baked banana bread (my mom’s banana bread to be more specific – so nostalgic and comforting) today. And I felt productive when I did it. And I felt wintery when I baked it, too. Then, to keep rolling with the food productivity and comfort, I made myself an awesome dinner:

Gluten free pasta with a mushroom, onion, tomato sauce over a bed of spinach, and my new favorite food: Brussels Sprouts!! Brussels Sprouts are soooo good! Usually I just fry them in a little butter and they are my favorite part of my meal. Yum yum.

I didn’t discover Brussels Sprouts until about a year ago, and I’ve only fallen super in love with them, hard, over the past month or two (probably because I learned how to cook them all the way through haha). But oh my, so good. They’re up there with sweet potatoes, which are also so so good! I love fall/winter foods. Someone get me a pumpkin spice latte, ASAP! Ha.

Also to add to the rainy-day-feel, I accidentally forgot my makeup in Dustin’s car yesterday and didn’t realize it until this morning. So I had an unintentional Makeupless Monday. And I felt scrubby and rainy and soggy all day, with my messy bun and no makeup. By the way, can I please say that I did NOT miss having dry jeans/clothes when it was rainy and nice here for like the 1.5 months of Seattle Summer? Oh well, at least there was a little sun this summer, right? Right.

Moral of the post: it’s rainy again in Seattle (real, heavy, all day kind of rainy).

And I need to go finish my homework for tomorrow. And eat some banana bread before it cools completely. Yum!

Happy fall & happy rain friendz!
