apparently I get excited about food

Hi bloggy (and real) friends, I miss you.

Life has been all: rain and frozen meals and studying (oh the studying!). In short, super boring. And did I mention super rainy (Juneuary? Thanks, Seattle)? I did, right?

But here are some of the highlights as of lately (warning: “highlights” during bar prep may not be that exciting for the rest of you, but I miss you, so meh):

coffee My caffeine addiction/tolerance is steadily increasing. No surprise there, amiright? The other morning after physical therapy, but before bar prep class, I treated myself to a latte and a biscuit from stumptown and my gosh it was amazing. Such a treat to switch it up from my usual black coffee in amazing unicorn mug (thanks Marissa, I love it and I use it every day).

mexican Hint: most of my most exciting things lately are food related. Well, non-frozen meal related, anyway. Like the picture above; last Thursday night Dustin brought me Mexican food from my favorite taqueria. Because he knows what a girl needs after a long day of studying: some smooches and a bunch of cheese and guacamole. The perfect combo, I’m telling you! I was bummed when he left and my food was gone and I had to go back to essay writing. I really, really cherish my breaks these days.

amy and i AND on Saturday night I got to socialize with someone other than Natalie and Brittan (at bar prep slash the library study room AKA our “home”, if you can call that socializing) and Dustin. I went to dinner with Art and Amy (and of course Dustin too). We at pizza. Then we played darts. It was perfect. I felt guilty for leaving an essay un-written, but that break improved my mood so much it was worth it. I’ll catch it up sometime this week.

So yes, that’s it as of lately. Please tell me abut all the fun things in your lives. I want to live vicariously though you. And I apologize in advance if it takes me like a week to write you an e-mail back. Or do anything normal people can do in a reasonable amount of time (I don’t even want to talk about my hair these days… sheesh).

some instagrammed things as of lately

As most of you know, I’ve been spending almost every moment of my time studying for the bar which means I’ve basically been living at the library. So exciting.

This last weekend, however, I had little lighter load than usual (only 3 essays on Sunday and Saturday I finished around 5pm – seriously exciting stuff) so Dustin and I did some non-study-related-activities!

On Saturday night we went out to dinner at Skillet where I had the BEST grilled cheese of my life (cheddar, brie and bacon jam on brioche bread). Go there, eat it, thank me later.

Dustin had never been to Skillet before so it was fun to take him somewhere new. We were both really happy with our meals. I wish I would have taken a picture!

After dinner we headed back to Dustin’s neighborhood and spent the evening having a drank and playing some darts and shuffleboard before ending our night at the Baranoff where there was karaoke, a man juggling and people basically having sex. In the bar. I saw a bare butt. #crazy

Oh, and did I mention: Dustin got new glasses and they look SOOO good. I’m even more in love. I didn’t think that was possible, you guys!

After our night out on Saturday, I woke up Sunday morning and did some more studying. Later that afternoon, though, I took a break and we went to Nordstrom Rack to get me some new jeans. My $10 pair from F21 were getting so sad that even Dustin noticed. He’s the sweetest. Thank you, Dustin:

Sunday night Dustin grilled us oysters (SO nom), and kabobs. I love being cooked for during bar prep. It’s one of my new favorite things!! So like, if you want to invite me over for dinner and you won’t be offended by my stress level and messy bun, that’d be cool ha!

Also this weekend, and for the past couple of weeks (basically since I started bar prep) Dustin and I have been working on a puzzle which has consumed his dining room table. Wholesome fun, you guys!!

Good times.

Oh and in case you were wondering, I’ve been eating the same thing for dinner, like, every day, except for when Dustin cooks for me. But it’s good. I’ll share, in case you’re curious (and if it makes you feel sad, like I said, you can always cook me some dinner):

Mix some of the bruchetta mix from Trader Joe’s (the kind in the refrigerated section) with some bread crumbs and some parmasean cheese. Scrape the yucky parts of the inside of a portobello mushroom out, fill with the mix, sprinkle with a little extra parmasean if you’re feeling crazy, and then bake for 12 min at 400 degrees. So good.

Ok that’s all for now, back to studying (today is Administrative law).

Call me maybe?

I’ve been obsessed with that “Call Me Maybe” song for a while now. I mean, who isn’t? It’s just so catchy! And, added bonus: it’s great to dance to at Jack’s. But that’s beside the point…

Today, in the midst of my crazy bar prep studying, I found this cover of that super catchy jam, performed by Rebecca Minkoff, Hilary Rhoda and The Man Repeller (who I totally girl crush, no shame).

It’s good. Enjoy:

tandem bike love

I don’t know if I’ve ever confessed this on the blog, but one of my lifelong dreams is to ride on the back of a tandem bike and not really do anything. I want to sit on the back, fake pedal, let the other person do all of the work and enjoy the ride. (biking is really hard, OK?)

Well the other day I basically got to check that lifelong dream off of my bucket list…

The day after graduation Dustin and I met Mike and Natalie and some of their friends at Golden Gardens for a beach day. When I got there I was delighted to find out that two of Mike’s friends had ridden their tandem bike all the way to the beach from south Seattle (madness)! They were kind enough to let Natalie and I sit on it. I was so excited, I can’t even describe the joy…

I’ll let you see for yourself (photo cred: Mike and his cell phone):

TANDEM BIKE
It was a good day.

After the beach that day, Dustin and I drank beers and hung out outside because it was so nice. That day was awesome!
