just incase you didn’t get enough the first time

So, aside from finding out today at physical therapy that I have a dislocated rib (whatttt? ouch! Don’t even ask me how I didn’t know.. I mean I knew something was wrong but YIKES!) I’m doing well, friends. Thanks for all the happy messages. You guys are wonderful.

Also today: the school posted all of the professional LAW SCHOOL PROM!!! pictures, so I’ll re-post them here for you all to enjoy, because some of them are good:

nearing the end. THE END, YOU GUYS!

I just had an epiphany, and it might sound a little silly once you hear it, but I’m going to tell you anyway: one week from tomorrow, I’ll be done with class… forever! (I guess I’ll still have bar prep for a few months this summer but I don’t think that counts as school class, you know?)

It’s weird to think about. I have been in school since I was 4 years old. I’m 25 now. 21 years of my life I have been in school, full time. It’s all I’ve ever done. And in a week (+2 weeks of finals) I’ll be done with school, forever. I’ll be receiving a doctorate on May 12th! It’s crazy. How did this happen so fast? In just a few weeks I’ll be: Rebeka Osborne, J.D. – that’s what’s up.

I don’t know why this is just all hitting me now. Probably because I have the 3L-itis, bad. I am lacking the motivation to get me through the end, and I need something, anything to look forward to. I guess the end is that thing.

So, hopefully, the nostalgic value of the fact that I only have 5 more days of class after today will keep me going. Right?

I’m so excited for myself.

I don’t know if you’re supposed to say things like that on the internet, or if that makes me sound like a d-bag, but it’s true. I’m excited.

Bring on the lady suits!

bleh bleh bleh

in which I vent, feel free to skip this one:

I woke up this morning when Dustin left for work and I just wasn’t feeling it (and when I say it, I mean today). It’s a bummer to wake up feeling like that, you know? So I got out of bed, tried to shake the feeling, gave Dustin some hugs and a kiss and sent him out the door. Then I made coffee and took a few sips before I just gave up and crawled back into bed and I tried my hardest to go back to sleep for the sole purpose of sleeping the whole day away. It was one of those mornings that I haven’t had in so long. And I promise you I didn’t miss them.

I fell back asleep only to dream that my landlord was tearing the tub out of my house and he found a bunch of dead rats and also a dead raccoon in our wall. I swear I could smell it in my sleep. And then this guy had a key to our house, and I hated it, and then he stole money from me. I hated that too.

I woke up 20 minutes later, potentially feeling worse than before, finished my coffee and forced myself into the shower.

I want to go back to my home. I’m tired of living out of a pile of my things on the floor. I don’t want to be a burden but I also don’t want to vomit from the sheer smell of my home. #conflicted. BTW that happened last week. The vomit. TMI? Sorry.

Oh and let me tell you also that Vegas was just a disaster, you guys. So much drama (stupid ex girlfriends). And I don’t ever want to think about it again. But there were some good Rebeka + Dustin parts (ex: the Viva Elvis Cirque de Soleil show we went to on Friday night, and dancing around by ourselves, and eating crepes) so maybe I’ll blog about them when I’m not so upset about the drama.

Maybe I’m experiencing some post-vacation blues (major sunburn all over my backside, blues). Or maybe it’s the rainy Seattle week blues. Or maybe it’s the displacement. Or maybe it’s just life. But I hope I snap out of it soon.

I lied, here is one vegas picture. Saturday night fun: Have I mentioned lately that he’s the best? He’s holding me together. And I love him for that (and so many other things too). Thanks, you.

Bainbridge Day Trip

Tomorrow morning at 6am I’ll be on a plane to Las Vegas. Dustin and I are going for a wedding and although it’s supposed to be nicer in Seattle than it is in Vegas (that’s a first, WTF? Rain in Vegas? That doesn’t happen) I’m still really excited. I love weddings. I love Vegas. I love Dustin. It’s going to be great.

In the meantime I should be getting ready for my day and doing homework and stuff like that. There is still so much to get done before I leave, but blogging and coffee in bed seems like a better plan for right now.

Last weekend Dustin and I did a spontaneous day [road] trip. We started out by driving south to Tacoma then west across the Tacoma Narrows bridge to Gig Harbor where we stopped to walk around and you know, have a beer (naturally once I found out it would be raining in Vegas I started stuffing my face again – no need for bikini bod just yet, right?).

Dustin in Gig Harbor
We went to “Tides Tavern” for our beers and I feel in love with the Silver City IPA. The brewery is right nearby in Silverdale and I will definitely look for the beer again.

I feel like this place would be the place to be in Gig Harbor on a Saturday night. It was sort of divey, and everyone there seemed hungover when we were there, but I got the feeling it would be getting a little crazy later that day.

gig harbot
Gig Harbor was a super cute, beachy, little town. The harbor was filled with sail boats and the beautiful sunny day didn’t hurt anything either. So we spent some time walking around and taking pictures and playing tourist.

After out pit stop in Gig Harbor we got back in the car and drove north (then south) to Bainbridge Island. I can’t believe I have lived in Seattle almost 7 years and I had never been to Bainbridge until this weekend. I’m basically in love. The town is beautiful, right on the water and had almost a Hood River vibe.

When we got to town we parked and walked around the town a little. Eventually we ended up by the water, which, much like Gig Harbor was filled with sailboats. So pretty!!

We walked around on the docks and on a path along the water. It was so nice and relaxing.

Oh and did I mention that the beautiful day clearly necessitated some photos…

All that walking made us super hungry so per my friend Natalie’s suggestion we walked along the water just a little further to the Harbour Public House for dinner. And just as Natalie said it would be, the restaurant was definitely quintessential Bainbridge.

After waiting for about 1/2 hour (this place was poppin’ and I can see why) we were finally seated. This was the view from our booth…

harbor publichouse
Totally worth the wait. Right?

Anyway, I was being super fat kid (rain in Vegas, no swim suit, depressed eating from the rainy news, all that) so I promptly ordered another beer (the same Silver City IPA) and some poutine.

poutine
Now don’t you judge me for eating a super unbalanced meal. Normally I live off of vegetables and other healthy ish. So I ate Poutine. And I din’t even feel [that] bad. And if you haven’t ever tried it, you should. It’s french-fries smothered in gravy and cheese curds. Um, yum, right?

Anyway we chatted and enjoyed our dinner and it was good.

After dinner we walked back to the car so we could catch the Ferry back to Seattle.

Dustin had never been on a Ferry (I had taken one once, during my Freshman year of undergrad I think). So it was an adventure. A mini adventure on our day adventure? Something like that…

DSCN1627
It was getting dark by the time we got on (and clearly I have NO idea how to use my point and shoot – or it is just crappy) so sorry for the poor picture quality. Anyway, Dustin’s first Ferry ride and the Seattle skyline in the background.

Anyway, during the ride we got out of the car and went up to the deck to explore.

I’m on the top of the world, on a boat like Leo, if you on the land then you sure ain’t me, yo!”DSCN1634 Emma, Titanic? Maybe? Not quite. But that was his intention and he IS on the front of the boat…

Anyway, by the time we finally got back to Seattle it was after 9 and we were exhausted. So, we went back to Dustin’s, played some Yathzee, and attempted to watch some Saturday Night Live (we LOVE SNL), but I fell asleep tough on the couch 1/2 way through and had to be carried to bed, thanks Dustin.

The next day was Easter. We kept things pretty low key. But I did make us some Easter dinner (ham and deviled eggs and veggies and maybe some other things too?) for the second year in a row. And it was nice outside so we sat on Dustin’s deck for a while and enjoyed the sun and then went across the street to the French restaurant for a change of scenery and a beer on their sidewalk patio.

Oh, and did I mention Dustin got to wear his new Mint Green J Crew shorts? LOVE THEM!

dustin on easter
It was another good weekend. #victory

& I’m crossing my fingers that the weather people are just lying to me and Vegas will be sunny and wonderful too. In my wishful thinking I’m packing plenty of dresses for day wear (and begrudgingly some jeans too). I can’t wait to share everything with you when I get home!

Until then I’m sure I’ll be Instagramming (user name: rebekaann) and tweeting (user name: osborra) everything I see/do I’m sure. So if you want some real time updates check it.

the last law school prom

Last weekend I went to my very final Law School Prom (more formally called Barrister’s Ball). I’m pretty sad that my prom days are over (potentially forever) because if you know me even a little bit you know I loveee prom. Especially grown up, open bar, photo booth, big-puffy-dress-less prom. #so good

For my very last ever law school prom Dustin booked us a room down on the water (right across the street from the venue) at the Marriott. Our room had awesome Puget Sound and downtown views and it was just extra fancy (probably because we got upgraded).

Before we had to start getting ready for the night, Dustin took me to Elliot’s for this seafood FEAST of a dinner. I have never seen/eaten so much amazing seafood in my life. We got some tower of seafood called the “celebration feast” or something, and it was probably the best seafood I’ve ever eaten.

Dustin at Elliot's
I probably shouldn’t have eaten as much as I did considering I had to fit into my dress soon after (good thing it was flowy) but nom. Oh and I had a delicious vodka martini. Double nom.

After we felt sufficiently fancy and sufficiently stuffed (on probably the most expensive dinner I’ve ever eaten – thanks again boyfriend), we walked back to the hotel along the waterfront. Then we got ready (well, mostly I got ready and Dustin showered and put on some clothes and sat on the deck and had some whisky, but you know how that goes, am I right friends?)

also we may have taken this really emo myspace picture while we were waiting for Mike and Natalie…

P.S. I’m in love with my prom lipstick (“heatwave” by NARS – apparently it looks good on everyone!! Natalie even tried it on when she got to the hotel and we looked good ):

DSCN1590
Anyway, as I was saying, Mike and Natalie (one of my law school BFFs) came over for prefunking and FRIENDSHIP!! and pictures too…

Dustin and I:DSCN1583
and did I mention we ALSO took awkward prom pictures?!! Because really, what prom would be complete without them?

Friendship and Prom together = love!DSCN1588

And then we drank some champagne and we (I) got yelled at by the neighbors for being too loud and then we hurried across the street to PROM!

The rest of the night was spent taking so many pictures in the photo booth (those will come as soon as the link is posted), having drinks, being silly with my most favorite person and the bestttt date, me dancing alone to dub step and drop it low (for Marissa and Beth, obvi) while my friends watched… thanks guys… ha! Dancing with my friends, then at the end of the night, dancing and hugging and jumping up and down with Dustin to things like “I wanna dance with somebody” – which I’m pretty sure will FOREVER remind me of this night.

Oh you guys, it was SUCH a good night.

I wish you all could have been there too.

transient weeks

Oh friends, I miss blogging. So much. My life has been in chaos lately. Mostly because of the rat which decided its final resting place should be someplace unreachable in my home. I can’t be there. I want to vomit just thinking about it. And our sweet landlord rented us this ozone machine to help with the smell, but when I breath it in (the ozone it produces) I feel like I’m going to die. My lungs are going to collapse or something.

Luckily I have the sweetest boyfriend. He has been letting me stay at his place while the dead smell takes over mine. But living out of a suitcase (really two very large purses), not having my computer desk, and having to share a long apartment key isn’t really fun (even though being near him WAY more often than normal has been nice for my neediness and my heart – Hi Dustin, I like you).

Needless to say, blogging hasn’t happened while I’ve been staying with Dustin and without my desk. But I have some good things to blog about soon. And real, camera pictures from LAW SCHOOL PROM! (which was so good, you guys!).

But to hold you over here are a few pre prom pictures (thanks to IG and my precious iPhone which is always with me, all of the days):

More soon, I promise!
