(Supreme Court of the Navajo Nation, 1989. 6 Navajo Rptr. 134, 16 Indian L. Rep. 6113.)
says:
"Under traditional Navajo thought, unmarried couples who live together act immorally because they are said to steal each other"
I weirdly understand/agree with/like this.
I heart my Federal Indian Law class/readings.

fratty
I've had a super fratty weekend. It started on Friday with the Phi Alpha Delta initiation (the language of which and the dark, candle lit setting, and secret handshake reminded me a lot of sorority initiation). I feel like joining the law frat = awesome because it combines the best of both my worlds, my love for fratasticness and law school. I was in the pre-law chapter of Phi Alpha Delta in undergrad, so it seemed only natural that I would join this too. After the initiation we fratted it up double kegger style in our business attire. It was a good time: beerpong victory, new friends, ice luge races, etc.
Yesterday Erin and I had a special sister roommie day together. We went to safeway then Paseo for some lunch - cuban sandwitches and a long line - it was delicious. Then we relaxed, watched tv, got dressed up in oddly matching outfits (I had mine on first, sister!) ie: strapless floral dress, brown boots, over the shoulder purses and feather earrings, wow. We went to a BBQ at our friends' apartment, friends = Pike frat boys we went to college with. We then cabbed it to Freemont and joined masses of people who were out enjoying Oktoberfest. We ended up cutting in line at the Ballroom, going inside, meeting boy Kylee (I think he said he spelled it Kielee or something like that), finding UW athletes to buy us drinks, then finding our Pike friends to buy us more drinks and shots and dance frat party style in a crowded, extremely hot and muggy room, then stumble home. It was a super fun night.
Today I babysat, but now it's time for homework, which I have clearly been avoiding all weekend. Good work, Rebeka!

tonight:
I'm getting initiated into a law frat (phi alpha delta) then going to an after party, double kegger. Super fratty. I love it. And "educational" or something -- look at me getting involved.

bedtime
it's 8:17 and I'm getting tired. I was asleep before 10pm last night. Ahh law school, the things you do to me. I think tonight, though, I'm going to power through. I only have one class tomorrow at 10:30am before a super long weekend (= road trip to Provo, UT for the BYU/UW football game), although it is my hardest class: Administrative law = crazy professor who asks unreasonably hard questions and has me paralyzed, almost in tears fearing that he may call on me and drill me for 5 minutes even though I don't know the answer to his question. But I think I am going to power though my tiredness, not think about the fact that my one class tomorrow is difficult, and go out with a handful of my law school girlfriends to a speakeasy tonight! I've never been to a speakeasy and I'm pretty excited for the exclusivity of the situation (one of our friends is friends with the bartender or something along those lines so we're in). so I guess now I should get back to my admin law reading so I can shower, drink some coffee and get ready for the night. it's good to be back in seattle!
