Husky vs Duck Football

This Saturday was game day! The UW Huskies played the Oregon ducks here at Husky Stadium. It was the last football game at the stadium as we know it. They’ll be remodeling for the next two years, and all the games will be played at the Seahawks stadium in the meantime.

Saturday we had people over for some food and drinks before everyone headed down to the E1 parking lot of tailgating.

Everyone was late getting to our house, but when people finally got there, we played some flip cup, ate some food (chili, corn bread, salmon dip, chips and salsa and guac, monkey bread, etc), had some jello shots and got excited for some Husky football.

everyone but me:  DSCN1394

Two of Dustin’s friends came up from Portland for the game. They all went to UO together, so they were rooting for the Ducks. WHATever ;) ha

somehow Dustin and I managed to get along despite our school rivalry (haha):

After a few hours of hanging at our house, everyone headed down to the stadium. I left  with Dustin and his friends, Alex and Pickle last. We walked through campus to get to the stadium. I love the UW campus, it’s so so pretty! We pit stopped at Suzzallo Graduate Library along the way:

you can’t really tell, but it was a really nice day, you could see Mt. Rainer in the background in real life:

DSCN1402 Alex and Ross in the Reading room at Suzzallo:DSCN1403

After our pit stop we walked down to the E1 parking lot (the HUGE stadium parking lot where everyone tailgates), and tried to find my friends. We failed a little, and I got annoyed by UW fans (mostly drunk sorority girls, BOO) throwing bread at Dustin and his friends (feeding the ducks or something), so we left E1 and walked down to the water by the crew house then to the “zone” for some drinks and food for the boys. I hate when fans are rude to other fans. I really really hate it actually. I don’t understand the game day shit talking and things.  It just seems silly to me. KINDNESS, PEOPLE!DSCN1405

After that we went to the stadium to watch the game. We sat in the UO section, which was a little rough for me, but I didn’t catch too much crap because I was wearing a black coat over all of my purple. It was REALLY cold out! But I did wear my motherfuckingBEARhatRAWR! all day, and that kept me warm. Also Dustin bought me a box of hand warmers and some foot warmers which I used during the game and they were seriously life savers. I was so happy to have them!

Dustin and I at the game:photo (13)

The game was a lot of fun. The Huskies ended up losing, but I kind of knew they would (Husky fans don’t hate me for saying that), so I wasn’t too disappointed. Also we didn’t get totally blown out, so that was a positive.

AND, I saw my friend Heather at the game. We went to high school together, and cheered together, and I don’t think I’ve seen her since her wedding so it was really great to catch up a little at the game.

After the game Dustin, Alex, Pickle and I walked back to my house before heading to Dustin’s house to relax (it was like midnight by this point). It was a really fun game and I’m glad I got to go with Dustin. I’m also really glad that we didn’t lose by like 50 points!

GO DAWGS!

Thursday, November 3, 2011

Guys, I'm getting really excited for this weekend. This week's UW football game is here at Husky Stadium (the last game at Husky Stadium before the remodel) and they're playing UO. I'm going with Dustin (who is a duck fan, since he went to undergrad at UO), a few of his friends, and a bunch of my "sisters". Also, my friend Noelle is coming into town and staying with us for the weekend along with her BF. She is one of my (our) sorority sisters who is in her 3L year at Marquette. Rude of her to go to law school so far away, right?

We're having people over at our house for snacks and drinks before the tailgate. Prefunk the prefunk, right guys? Anyway, we're having pplz over then we're walking down to the stadium for the game (which is at 7:30pm on FSN. you all should watch (and look for me haha)).

And now here are some pictures from the rainiest ever UW football game against Stanford (from last year). Cross your fingers for better weather this year. There is a 30% chance of rain with a high of like 46degrees for Saturday. FML. Beer blanket, here I come ;)

The Longest (Sweetest) Halloween Post

Dustin told me like, weeks ago, in the midst of all of his being gone non-sense that we would carve pumpkins for halloween (alright he maybe didn’t tell me as much as I begged until he agreed). But last week when he got back from all of his trips he asked me if I wanted to come over Friday for a pumpkin carving EXTRAVAGANZA! (Alright, he totally didn’t use the word extravaganza, but didn’t I make it sound exciting?). Obvi I told him yes.

On Friday I got really excited after I was done with school stuff and before he picked me up. So I curled my hair and sent him text pictures like this (it’s the “’get excited, you’ face”). Because I was bored and maybe lame? Don’t judge/pretend like you’ve never done it!

Halloween Weekend 2011 (14)

So, Friday evening after Dustin was off work and things, he picked me up and we went to Safeway to pick out pumpkins. Clearly I was being very picky about the whole thing but finally found one that was a good size and a good color and a good shape and had a good handle (so important) and didn’t have gross stuff on it.

After we loaded up our pumpkins we went back to Dustin’s apartment where I found this waiting for us:

Halloween Weekend 2011 (47)

HALLOWEEN TABLE OF FUN (the great pumpkin charlie brown DVD, jack-o-lantern pizza, gummy worms and candy cornz in skull goblets, science project skull face, cookie decorating things, jelly beans, pumpkin carving things and games). He also had taken out a light bulb in his hall and replaced it with a red light and had scary music playing when we got there (obvi I had to turn the regular light on to take this picture with my iPhone, sorry for the blurryness, I forgot my camera). So cute, right? What a little planner I have!

Oh and did I mention there was also a SPOOKY black cat?? (Battle Cat):

Halloween Weekend 2011 (3)

After putting the pizza in the oven and Dustin putting my bear hat on, we had mini photo shoot (because we’re good at it)…

Halloween Weekend 2011 (55)Halloween Weekend 2011 (10)Halloween Weekend 2011 (37)Halloween Weekend 2011 (48)

Scary halloween bear faces now:

Halloween Weekend 2011 (15)

And then we got to work carving pumpkins.

This is what mine turned out like (so not scary):

Halloween Weekend 2011 (50)

And this was Dustin’s which was way more creative and scary and awesome (with him in the background, whoops ha):

Halloween Weekend 2011 (17)

side note: We also saved the seeds and Dustin roasted them and we ate them all weekend (fat kid status) and they were super delicious. The perfect Halloween weekend snack and paired well with ALL THE CANDY we ate – really, sooo much candy.

And in case you didn’t remember, our pumpkins looked really cool lit up (alright, his did, mine just looked goofy hah):

Halloween Weekend 2011 (4)

And also, last night for actual Halloween, Dustin put our pumpkins outside for everyone to see. He also bought glow sticks to put in them so they wouldn’t burn down his apartment complex in the night.

Halloween Weekend 2011

Bonus Quote: “rainman basically bankrupt the casinos and he was a ra-tard” guess that movie…!

Oh, and did I mention that we sipped on candy corn cocktails while we worked on our pumpkins and did our other Halloween activities?

Halloween Weekend 2011 (49)

Also all weekend we could not stop singing “Monster Mash” (honestly we probably sang it about a hundred times during the weekend, because we’re cool – at least we like each other, right? ha).

Dustin (in monster singer voice): The ghouls all came from their humble abodes, to get a jolt from my electrodes
Me (in girl du wop voice): They did the mash
Dustin: They did the monster mash
Me: The monster mash

After pumpkins and snacks, it was science experiment time:

Halloween Weekend 2011 (56)  Halloween Weekend 2011 (26)

We made zombie barf which was chunky and gross and too sugary for me and also it’s what Dustin is drinking in the above picture. And we also made jelly bugs. And it was pretty exciting (see picture of table, science experiments were made with the scary green scull thing).

After our science experiments we decided it was time to wind down from all of our activities and watch “it’s the great pumpkin charlie brown” which I just love so so much. I was SO excited to see this on the table of activities. Good job Dustin!

Halloween Weekend 2011 (11)

We watched, and ate pumpkin seeds and candy and drank our candy corn vodka and it was amazing.

The next day was Saturday. And Fall-time Saturdays are usually spent watching college football (or at least the Oregon Ducks and Washington Husky games). So we first went downstairs to the Baronoff for breakfast and then we headed up the street to Bleacher to watch the UO game.

I’m not going to lie. We went to the bar at noon. And we were the first people there. And by the time the game was over at like 3:30 we were both a little buzzed. Also I wore my bear hat. And it was rad (old men complimented me, duh).

Then afterwards, Dustin was like, “let’s keep day drinking” and I was like “AWESOME! I LOVE THAT IDEA!” Because I had decided on like Wednesday that I was going to take Saturday completely off from school work (the first completely off day in about a month) and it was the best. But in the midst of Dustin declaring that we were going to day drink we passed this time travel shop on our walk down Greenwood Ave. and Dustin insisted we go in (to be fair, we’ve wanted to go in a million times but they’re always closed). So we went in. And Dustin bought lots of things. Like this smoke gun (it’s a toy gun that blows smoke rings):

Halloween Weekend 2011 (31)Halloween Weekend 2011 (46)

And then we went to the grocery store and then we played games on his patio area and shot smoke rings at each other. I was almost really good at the throw the ball in the cup game. But not quite. He beat me every time, even though I think I had more close shots ;)

Halloween Weekend 2011 (7)Halloween Weekend 2011 (12)

isn’t my bear hat the best?

Halloween Weekend 2011 (52)

And then we came inside and he made us Philly Cheese steak Sandwiches because I forced him (okay, this time I didn’t force THAT much, because he likes them too).

And then we made and decorated BOOGER COOKIES (all his idea. so cute of him, right?) We did this on Saturday b/c we were too tired after all of our other activities on Friday. But it was so much funz:

Halloween Weekend 2011 (28)Halloween Weekend 2011 (19)The boogeriest cookie

Halloween Weekend 2011 (42)

And then it was Saturday night and so we watched the University of Washington Huskies win their FB game. And we watched the really really awesome close Stanford vs. USC game. And we also watched “the Haunted Mansion” movie with Eddie Murphy. So silly.

We thought about going out to sing Karaoke but I was too tired and lame. Day drinking really took it out of me. Ha!

The next morning I made us biscuits and gravy and bacon. And Dustin made us Bloody Mary Bar. Because I love Bloody Marys. And there is a Pirate themed bar right downstairs from his apartment (I know, right??) that has bloody mary bar on Saturday and Sunday, but we always miss it. So he brought it to me. And it was sweet. He wins. All weekend he won.

     Halloween Weekend 2011 (41)

And then after that I went back to being a normal, boring person law student. I went home and did homework and worked on a  motion that is being submitting to the court for the theft case I’ve been working on. But the weekend was super fun. I loved it so much.

On a side note though, my roommates and I didn’t get ANY trick or treaters last night. This is despite the fact that we live in a residential neighborhood. We even had our porch light on and pumpkins on our porch. I don’t get it? Oh well. More candy for me! Ha. Someone stop me!

Sorry this was such a long, picture heavy post. I hope you’re over it :)

Also, tell me about your weekend. Did you dress up and go out? Was it awesome?

Go Huskies (duh)

In case you didn’t already know I went to the University of Washington for undergrad. I heart the Huskies. True story.

Last Saturday I went to my first football game of the season. UW vs. Hawaii

We started it out with an awesome and delicious brunch at our house (me, Erin, Kylee, Elizabeth, Stephanie and A Jo). We had eggs and cinnamon rolls and hash browns and sausages and poor man’s mimosas (bud light + OJ) and real mimosas too. It was delicious.

I crack myself up:

UW vs. Hawaii (6)

I got a ticket from my friend Lisa who has season tickets with some of her friends. One of the friends couldn’t go so I snatched up her ticket. YAY!

After brunch we walked to the stadium, tailgated a little then headed into the game.

Lisa and I love Husky Football. Also I wore a purple dress because it was HOT outside! I loved that too!!!

UW vs. Hawaii  UW vs. Hawaii (5)

I had also never sat at the top of the stadium before. There was a great view of Lake Washington. And if you looked the other way you could see the space needle. I thought that was pretty sweet. I still think the Space Needle is a cool landmark, even if I have been in Seattle 6+ years now.

UW vs. Hawaii (2)

And at the end of the game, we won and I liked that. A lot.

The end.

P.S. GO DAWGS!
