song of the day

I love how sometimes you stumble upon really awesome music while listening to Pandora. I have the "Phoenix" station playing right now while I do some community property reading on this rainy Seattle Saturday (I figure: work hard now, play hard later, right?). Anyway while listening I came upon this gem of a song and it's officially my song of the day.

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. I also hope you find a fabulous rainy day activity to keep you happy this weekend! I'm sure I will considering Stephanie and Alli are up visiting for the weekend (YAY PC05 love)!

law school prom

Right now is the time between spring break and finals, so you know what that means: Law School Prom (or "Barrister's Ball" for those of you who want to be fancy about it). It's next weekend and I'm not going to lie: I'm pretty excited. That might be because I actually have a date this year who isn't going to flake on me (so weird), or just because I love love prom in general. It's true, ask Borrachi. Before law school, when I was working at Brian's Pourhouse I FREAKED out during prom season. Seeing all the high school kids dressed up and out to dinner made me the happiest. Law school prom isn't really the same. It's definitely less formal and there is free booze which is sweet and definitely different (because I was a good child back then and I didn't drink - ever. Ohhh how the times have changed).

Anyway, a dress and hair are still in the works. But I have been getting some inspiration from Reagan's Blob (and her hair blog too). She a super cute hair dresser in NYC who I awkwardly blog stalk. OK I confessed - judge me all you'd like! Anyway two of my favorite hairdos she has done recently are:

the halo braid: SO cute

and big awesome curls (I mean, really, how cute is she?!)

We'll see what I decide. It will probably depend on my dress which I definitely still need to figure out, so maybe a trip to the mall is in order this weekend. Ohh the possibilities!

Anyway, bye for now lovelies. I hope you have a happy Friday!

I haz virgin hairs

Also, this week Kalyn cut my hair. She did a wonderful job (as always). You should totally check her out on facebook (by clicking HERE) if you're anywhere near Hood River, Oregon and you need your hair cut!

Here is a before picture (too long with grown-out bangs, yuk):
And then after (with like 3 inches off, and lots of layers, and bangsss! yay):

(also, I'm wearing an old tank and I don't remember where I got it, my cardigan and my belt are from Forever 21, & my skirt is from Banana Republic)
Also, if you didn't already have it figured out, I'm a huge dork and I feel awkward taking pictures of myself. K that's it for now - it's actually SUNNY, in Seattle, in March... So I'm going to go outside in my skirt! Yeah, you heard me right, a SKIRT (plus boots and tights, but still).

not so motivated

I'm having the hardest time getting motivated to do anything today. I wish that law school spring break was like under grad, quarter style, spring break - where you didn't have homework and responsibilities during your break. I have journal things, and an outline for a paper, and homework for next week that I need to do. And I just can't get motivated. Blah. Stupid Seattle winter - I need some sunshine. But I am thankful that I have been surrounded by people I love all week. AND tonight I get to go to El Chupacabra with Dustin and Ben and Kate and Greg and others and eat some nummy Mexican food. Then, after that we are going to Prost to drink a boot (which I have never done before... it sounds kind of alcoholic and spring break-y and I'm not going to lie I'm a little excited ha). It's the carrot getting me through the day. And this song, this song is definitely helping too:

1 2 3 4 tell me that you love me more, sleepless long nights that is what my youth was for.
Anyway, I hope you all have super productive, happy days!

Dance Hall Days

When I was little my very favorite movie was the Wizard of Oz. I don't know what it was about the movie (maybe the singing, or befriending "men" made out of things you would find on a farm/a lion, or the pretty red shoes?) but it has always held a special place in my heart. Something else I have always loved is cheesy 80s music (can we say immediate mood lifter/dance party?). Anyway, I just stumbled upon this gem of a music video and had to share - it has AWESOME outfits and if you thought it wasn't going to get better, you'd better hold on to your seats because it even has some Wizard of Oz lovin' thrown in at the end. Enjoy, lovelies.

today in pictures:

As promised here is my faux canadian tuxedo picture! I am so in lust with this shirt it is redick.
Sorry the picture isn't the best... my iPhone camera can only do so much. What I'm wearing:

faux denim oversized button down shirt- H&M
Skinny Hudson jeans from Parts&Labor, Hood River
Belt - H&M
Booties - Forever21
Bracelets and Earrings - Banana Republic
Anyway, after playing dress up in some denim-on-denim (or almost, but not really) I headed home to White Salmon to visit my parents for the night. I'm getting my hair cut before going back tomorrow for work, so I'm pretty excited. I do feel guilty about not telling anyone (friend wise) that I'm here, but I feel like I've been neglecting the fam as of late so I felt obligated to spend my short amount of time here with them only. It's nice to be home and to relax without any obligations. Also, my dad always has an awesome wood fire burning, so the house is always toasty warm and happy ♥

Oh, also, I made my mom download words with friends on her new iPhone. I love it!

So, some pictures & thingz:

Before I left today, my mom text me to remind me to bring my antlers home so my dad could mount them on a plaque thing that I can hang in my room (so they won't awkwardly be sitting on my book case anymore). Anyway, I put them on my bed while I was packing, so I wouldn't forget, and Fluffy Face fell in love. He was rubbing all over them for like a half hour. Silly kitty.
I have a cat at my parents' house too. His name is Snack. I guess I shouldn't say he is mine, because really my mom adopted and spoiled him. He was mine in college - I got him my freshman year and took him to Seattle but had to bring him home after only a few months. So that is why I say he is my mom's now. She has come to love him the most, to the point where he won't even let me pet him anymore. BUT when we were having desert (ice cream and brownies) he jumped up on the arm of the couch (before my dad could yell at him) and I let him have a little ice cream (contrary to the way it looks in this picture, I did not let him eat it from the bowl I was eating from, SICK). We bonded for about 30 seconds. Presh moments.

And now I am rocking Dustin's sweats (and an old Zeta Tau Alpha tee). They are like, the comfiest sweats ever and the next best thing to cuddling with him when I'm 4 hours away. And I have to say, I'm pretty excited to sleep in my bed at my parents' house tonight. Yay for some fam/home time.

Canadian Tuxedos

So, lately I've really been contemplating the canadian tuxedo. I love it for its comical aspect. I mean, you can't not laugh at JT and Britney rocking the all denim circa 1998 (google it). But really, I've seen some denim on denim that I actually really like lately. And I have to admit, I find myself wanting it on my own body... Examples:

Soo, yesterday at H&M I bought a faux denim shirt... It's not actually denim but it looks kind of denim and it is a wonderful oversized button-down that I'm in love with and my roommate who was completely adverse to it at first is now warming up to it. Dustin told me that I could wear it with jeans and rock a faux Canadian Tuxedo, and that is exactly what I intend on doing.

I'll post pictures in a little, after I finally get dressed, but I was just too excited to tell people about my newfound love for denim on denim (aka the Canadian Tuxedo, or faux CT in my case) to wait.

OH and also, I saw a man ,while I was out at a bar in Chicago this weekend celebrating St. Patty's day, who was wearing an ironic denim vest on jean combo that I complimented him on. He told me I was the first person to compliment him and he was glad I understood. Then we bonded over some Irish Car Bombs, but that's a story for another time (as I still need to post about my Chicago trip).
